everyday life - week 4

Man, what a week!

This was a busy, busy week. But so full and so fun!

When Eugene is on his "work week", I'm always busy trying to find things to fill my schedule with to keep me and the kids busy. It's always so much fun and I am so thankful for the community God has placed us in to live life with - but I also am learning the importance of being intentional about what and how much I choose to fill my schedule with. I never want to neglect the most important/BEST things (my personal pursuit of and devotion to the Lord) because of good things I am filling my life/schedule/thoughts with so I have actually been trying to scale down a bit. It's a work in progress!

So without further ado - here's what this past week looked like!

Over the weekend, we actually had a small group reunion for Eugene's college small group! These guys were freshmen when they were in Eugene's small group and now they are all grown up! No better way to catch up than with loads of pork. Yum! (P.s. Bossam in the instapot is SO money. Will try to post a recipe soon!)

We had a VERY rare but super sweet Sunday. Usually one of us is working a night shift either before or after church so we are always so rushed or sleepy. But for the first time in 6 months, we had the morning "off" so we got to spend a quiet, slow and alert morning together. Our biweekly coffee dates continue. This week: Vitaly Caffe in Costa Mesa.

The vibe here is pretty rad.

A rare moment calls for a rare (sadly!) family photo! Asher was thrilled, if you can't tell.

Dinner with friends! Star wars episode re-enactments, amazing kabobs and playing fun kid games! I found out, during this evening, that Eugene had never played Guess Who? growing up (WHAT DID U DO DURING UR CHILDHOOD)

Visiting Wug at 7Leaves.
Left: Wug in 2018 with Baby girl A.
Right: Wug in 2016 with Baby boy A and the best hairstyle evar. (BRING IT BACK)

Big brother's naptime is a blessing because it provides the perfect mid-day break to rest, recharge and re-caffeinate.

Last time seeing the Oquindos before they become parents! So much fun being able to go through life with our friends.

We spontaneously made chocolate chip cookies after dinner one night. BEST DECISION EVER. We doubled the recipe and used up everything I had in my pantry. Then we realized we used the wrong kind of butter (Smart Balance instead of real butter - ooops!) Still turned out okay! Can't wait to make them again.

A couple weeks ago, I became an Usborne consultant and I am really loving it! I have always loved their books so it's been a lot of fun sharing my love for these books with everyone else!

Kids who eat together stay together forever and become best friends until they get old and gray. RIGHT?! I hope so. T & A, BFF4L!!!!!

I had an entire costco-sized bag of broccoli I forgot about in the back of my fridge so decided to try making broccoli cheddar soup. But I used milk instead of cream. and Mexican-style cheese instead of sharp cheddar. EH. It was aiiiiiite to me, but Eugene really loved it and told me almost 10 times that it was his favorite soup. I'm so blessed haha.

We had sandwiches with the soup and Asher was not a fan. Now that I think of it, I'm not sure he's ever had a sandwich? haha anyway - I tried to jazz his neglected leftovers up a bit to try to entice him. It worked maybe 10%, lol! However, since then he has been asking for a sandwich almost every other day. I think we're onto something...

Asher was obsessed with this really awesome alphabet puzzle he received and played with it almost everyday this week (Thanks HMC!) A few things to note here: the million small toys that are piled around him (--my life), the tray of food from previous photo that I moved closer to where he was sitting to entice him some more (--didn't work) and baby girl who is literally always plopped wherever big brother is playing and she is like "so, like - when are you gonna pick me up?"

Introducing Asher to the deliciousness that is cottage cheese with canned peaches (my fave combo!)

Did you know I had an etsy shop? I rarely mention it because I am not too active on it. I started it as a way to raise money for my mission trip to India a few years ago and the cards I created for that fundraiser are still slowly getting sold away. January is always my busiest month (because-- Valentine's Day!) so I've been a busy bee at night packing orders away. Thankful for my sister who has been sleeping over here and there (BLESS UP!) and helping me with my orders. I love you, Kat.

Morning snuggles and smiles in baby girl's crib is becoming a ritual and I love it so much.

Spent the morning at one of our favorite places (Pretend City) with one of our favorite people (Auntie Em) and Asher had a blast!

My current dining table situation every night. Worksheets, tax forms, kid books, etsy orders being packaged, etc. Oh and NARNIA!

I really want to read more this year - and I am one chapter into my non-fiction choice  of 2018 (I've never read it before!) I'm excited but realizing that I need to try to set a goal for 10 mins a day to read or else i will still be on chapter 2 in June. I'm so excited though!

Every friday we have weekly family time (even on Eugene's work weeks) which is pretty much just a dinner before bible study but it is my favorite part of the week.  This week was ramen (followed by boba!!!!! MY FAVE)

Cheers to a new week!
